About London International Study CentreORIGIN: The London International Study Centre (LISC) was set up by the Co-principals of Sutherland Education in response to the need identified by so many guardianship students for a caring establishment to bridge the gap between leaving their own family and moving into 'the deep waters' of boarding. Too often students whom we collected from the airport demonstrated an inadequate knowledge of English, and so struggled both socially and academically with the challenges they faced upon their arrival at their UK boarding school. Our caring environment helps students overcome their homesickness and cultural inhibitions which means they are much happier and can achieve better academic results once in boarding, without falling behind. It is of paramount importance for GCSE/A level/IB students to also acquire the academic jargon of the subjects they are planning to study so that their coursework can be of a high quality from the start. LOCATION: LISC is located close to Wimbledon and Kingston in South West London, which is ideal for commuting into the centre of London on the train (15 - 20 minutes) and also close to many local attractions including Richmond Park, Hampton Court Palace and Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum.
TUTORS: Due to the fact that many well-known private and state schools are situated in our area, all our highly educated tutors can also offer experience in preparing students for top level exam grades. PROGRAMMES: Our study centre offers a highly personalised and effective language learning programme, combining intensive study with the culturally enriching experience of living with a well educated English family. All learning takes place in a small and friendly environment where our students are encouraged to work hard and also have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.
