The Principals

grazyna sutherland

Grażyna Anna Sutherland MA MBA PGCE*

After obtaining her MA degree in English Philology at Poznan University, Grażyna established a highly successful language school. At one time an overseas student in the UK herself, she has been involved with the English education system for over 20 years.

Following management studies, Grażyna held senior management positions in industry. She has since been awarded an MBA with distinction and established a very successful Sutherland Day Nursery recognised as such by Ofsted. Grażyna has been Director of studies of LISC since its inception. In addition to English, she speaks Polish and Russian.

andrew sutherland

J. Andrew Sutherland BA (Hons), PGCE

Since reading History and Education at York University, Andrew has had over 25 years teaching experience in independent boarding schools, formerly as a Housemaster and then as a Deputy Headmaster, and has held senior posts in both Europe and Asia.

Andrew has worked extensively with international students and his accumulated experience in addressing their particular needs led him to originate and co-found AEGIS (The Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students), to promote and safeguard the welfare of international students under the age of eighteen. Andrew is the Pastoral Head of LISC.

Daniela Alberton BA

Daniela studied for a degree in English and Portuguese in her home country, Brazil. She is a qualified and experienced EFL teacher having spent time teaching students of all nationalities in London. Her background and interest in Education means that Daniela is able to understand and empathise with students and their needs which help when appointing suitable guardians and host families.

Georgina Eley MA PGCE

Georgina completed her MA in English Language and Linguistics at Rhodes University in South Africa where she lectured professional communications and critical discourse analysis. She then studied a PGCE in her home country of Zimbabwe before coming to teach in the UK. She is passionate about education and is responsible for providing academic support to tutors and pupils at LISC, as well as helping to develop stronger partnerships with UK schools.

Anna Field

Anna is an enthusiastic individual, with broad experience, gained over twenty years in management positions with a blue chip organisation. Anna has four sons, two who are fully grown so she has experienced the worries being a parent can bring. Anna's work experience together with her own family commitments makes her an ideal guardianship coordinator.

Justyna Oksinska BA

Justyna graduated in English from a Polish University. Apart from a very friendly and helpful disposition, she is a very experienced administrator, which makes her an ideal person for the role. Her responsibilities include tuition coordination and reception duties. She can help you with any issues regarding tuition arrangements and activities. Justyna speaks fluent Polish and English.

Marianna Makarova MA

Marianna graduated in Law at Charles University in Prague. She has also studied at Faculty of Law at Commenius University in Bratislava and at School of Law at Queens University in Belfast within the SOCRATES/ERASMUS programme. Marianna has more than 9 years' experience in education, as she has been a director of an educational consultancy in Bratislava and has also worked in senior management positions of prestigious summer holiday language courses run by one of the best known independent boarding schools. Her responsibilities include overseeing the smooth running of LISC operations. She can speak Slovak, Czech, German and English.

Gosia Szkudlarek BA

Gosia studied Administration and Management at Lódz University, Poland. She has had extensive experience in working with students and teachers. Gosia is the longest serving member of our team and you will find her extremely knowledgeable and obliging. She has worked in accounts in the UK for nearly 10 years and can help you with any financial queries.

Wen Wen Tang MSc

Wen Wen graduated from Cardiff University in International Economics, Banking and Finance. Her role is to support the Accounts Manager and help with interpreting between English and Chinese! She is currently doing her ACCA qualification (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants). She speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese.
