A total immersion programme in English: EAT© with LISC in London!
LISC offers a full immersion programme in English, both conversational and for academic purposes. It combines intensive tuition with many cultural and sporting activities as well as accommodation with a supportive English family. In this way all students benefit from EAT©. Students are constantly stimulated and encouraged to speak and think in English in the classroom, during activities and with a family. In this way, LISC ensures that students are well prepared for boarding in the shortest possible time, guaranteeing good value for money and rapid results.
One Headmistress wrote: 'S. R. is unrecognisable from the student we assessed earlier in the term, as her English has improved far beyond our expectations.' Numerous testimonials are available from other happy schools, parents, past students and agents.
High-calibre subject teachers
As LISC lies in the heart of the UK's biggest cluster of highly academic day schools, most teachers come with years of experience in preparing students for school entrance exams, GCSE/A level/IB courses, for Oxbridge and other very selective universities.
Accommodation with a caring family under AEGIS accredited guardianship
All students are accommodated with families carefully selected by Sutherland Education, which is accredited by AEGIS (The Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students). As well as providing accommodation and three meals per day, they offer pastoral, educational and linguistic support. The family's involvement is integral to the total immersion programme of EAT©. All relevant parties benefit from 24-hour emergency contact and assistance with any practical matters that may arise. Sutherland Education (SE) has been described by OFSTED/Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)-trained AEGIS inspectors as 'an exemplar of the very best practice'.
SE guardians are professionally trained in duties of care and communication. They have experience of working with international students and are well prepared to handle personal problems and challenging situations. More information on guardianship can be found at www.sutherland-education.com. Also, quite unusually, guardianship arrangements are included in LISC's tuition fees.

Excellent results
This year, 100% of LISC students were awarded A-C grades (significantly above the UK average despite the fact that English was their second language). 23% of LISC results were A* grades, 31% were A grades and 31% were B grades. This impressive result of 54% of grades being A* - A speaks for itself. Our successful EAT© programme, with its specially integrated guardianship support, has led to 100% of our students being awarded grade A for IGCSE in English as a Second Language.
LISC's history and purpose
The origins of LISC lie in a 40-year history of providing guardianship for international students, listening to the needs of schools, and in the starting of AEGIS. Too often, high expectations end in disappointment due to insufficient preparation, loss of confidence and an inability to optimise opportunities. LISC works to ensure students do not fall behind in their learning and enables them to cope with academic language, cultural differences and unfamiliar teaching methods.
LISC is the ideal bridge to boarding - to happy and successful schooling in the UK.
'Thank you for the caring support given to our sons, enabling them to quickly learn, pass school entrance exams, acquire language confidence and insightful knowledge of different aspects of boarding.'
